The IEEE Sensors Council Summer School Series enables students and researchers interested in the field of modern sensors to broaden their knowledge in new emerging areas of research, with the 2017 edition focused on Optical Fibre Sensors.

The Summer School is a five-day event (Monday through Friday). The Summer school incorporates training courses and is organized around presentations, speakers and discussions on how to create better optical fibre sensors. The five-day program of this school is highly multidisciplinary and covers a range of topics including chemical fibre sensing, fibre gyroscopes, specialty fibres for sensing, biomedical fibre sensors, with a special focus day on pushing the boundaries of the micro- and nano-scale fibre sensors.
